Company Johann Seltmann

Porzellanfabrik Johann Seltmann Vohenstrauß was established in 1901 by brothers Johann and Christian Seltmann in Vohenstrauß, Bavaria, Germany. Following a mutual business separation in 1910, Johann maintained sole ownership of the Vohenstrauß facility, modernising it into a highly efficient, multi-kiln manufacturer of quality domestic dinnerware and decorative hotel porcelain.

The factory experienced expansion in the interwar years and successfully rebuilt its operations after World War II, becoming renowned for its mid-century tea services, kitchenware, and vibrantly coloured, gold-gilded porcelain sets.

Increased competition from cheaper foreign imports led to a merger under the "Seltmann Weiden" group in 1993, but economic pressures ultimately forced the permanent closure of the historic Vohenstrauß production line in 1995.
