Collection: Martini & Rossi (Italy)
Martini & Rossi traces its story to Turin in 1863, when Alessandro Martini, Teofilo Sola and Luigi Rossi established the partnership behind the MARTINI brand. Production was based in nearby Pessione, in Italy's Piedmont region, where Rossi's expertise helped develop the vermouth that became MARTINI Rosso.
The company's influence extended beyond drinks into advertising, design and popular culture. Its recognisable ball-and-bar logo and ambitious visual campaigns helped establish an international identity, while collaborations with artists and associations with cinema, social events and motor racing broadened its cultural presence.
For vintage collectors, this history is reflected in branded objects and promotional material as well as bottles and labels. The MARTINI archives preserve advertising, photographs, branded items and records of sporting activities, documenting how the company presented itself across different decades and markets.
Martini & Rossi is the drinks brand represented on these promotional objects, not a glass manufacturer. The branding on an ashtray or other glass item should therefore be distinguished from its place of manufacture or the identity of the glassworks that produced it. Those details belong to the individual object and its surviving marks or documentation.
