Collection: Luminarc (France)

Founded in 1948 by Jacques Durand, the Luminarc brand takes its name from the fusion of "Lum" for light and "Arc" for Arques - the small town in northern France where the company has been based since 1825. Luminarc is one of several brands operating under the umbrella of Arc International (formerly Verrerie Cristallerie d'Arques), alongside Arcopal, Arcoroc, and Cristal d'Arques. Arc International remains one of the world's largest glass manufacturers, still in production today.

During the mid-century period, Luminarc produced a range of highly decorative glassware that became staples of the European and international export market. Their pieces were characterised by bold colour, excellent clarity, and a distinctly French sense of elegance - qualities that made them popular across department stores in Australia, the UK, and beyond.

For collectors, the most sought-after ranges from this era include Cavalier (featuring coloured bodies in ruby, green, amber and more), the delicate pink Rosaline, the German-inspired Römer, and the textured Gothic range.
