About Giovanni Ronzan:
Giovanni Ronzan (1906–74) was a distinguished Italian ceramic artist renowned for his detailed and expressive sculptures that often depicted animals, religious figures, and mythological themes.
In 1939, Giovanni, along with his brothers Antonio and Giuseppe, founded the Ronzan ceramics factory in Turin. The onset of World War II prompted the relocation of their operations to Bassano del Grappa in 1942 for safety. By 1949, Giovanni returned to Turin to establish "Ceramiche Originali di Giovanni Ronzan," while his brothers continued production in Bassano under "Ceramiche Ronzan e Cecchetto," later known as "Ronzan e Figlio."
Ronzan's work is characterised by its lifelike detail and vibrant coloration. His sculptures often feature animals such as leopards, parrots, and dogs, as well as religious figures like Madonnas and mythological subjects. Notable pieces include the "Mamma Sirena" and various hand-painted ceramic leopards.
