Japanese Kokeshi
Kokeshi are Japanese wooden dolls that have been crafted for more than 150 years as a toy for children, originating from the northeastern region of Japan.
Each piece is handmade from wood, primarily cherry or mizuki, having a simple long trunk and round head with painted designs and definition to the face. In the traditional style of kokeshi they have no arms or legs. The pattern on the body can vary too; sometimes with floral designs and other times with horizontal bands, mostly painted in red, black and yellow then protected with a layer of wax.
Japanese kokeshi make the perfect addition to your mid-century sideboard.
A tip, when styling always display in groups of odd numbers.
