---

Barovier & Toso is the oldest glass company in Italy and its history dates back to as far as 1295.

In 1884 Giovanni Barovier and his nephews Guiseppe, Benvenuto and Benedetto purchase the Salviati Dr. Antonio glass firm after Salviati decides to separate from the glass production business. The contract includes an agreement to retain the “Salviati” name until Antonios death. Consequently it is changed to “Artisti Barovier” in 1890. The company quickly becomes known for their refined glass works and they partake in important exhibitions to promote the business.

The company as it's known today was formed in 1936 with the merge of two glasshouses - Vetreria Artistica Barovier, and Ferro Toso. First known as Ferro Toso Vetrerie Artistiche Riunite S.A. until 1942, and then Barovier & Toso.

THIS LISTING

We're excited to be able to offer an exquisite table lamp from the company - this might be one of the most incredible lamps we have seen.

This stunning example of classic Murano glassmaking are truly a sight to be hold! Measuring approx 75cm (29.5") to the top of the glass and 82cm (32") to the top of the light fitting, this huge beauty is an excellent size - ready to showcase the true craftsmanship of the company.

Including the original lampshade included, it measures 1m (39") tall.

Created using hand-blown techniques, the turquoise glass is layered with gold leaf throughout. There are slight differences in the shape and style of each section, a true indication of individual work as every single piece that leaves the workshop has its own unique attributes.

Truly a beautiful specimen and one that deserves its own special place of display in someone's home.

It has been professionally rewired with a new cable to meet Australian electrical standards. Essentially, it's all ready to go!
