Nymølle Keramiske Fabrik holds a significant position in the narrative of 20th-century Danish ceramics. Recognised for its distinctive and decorative pottery, the factory established a notable presence, primarily through its collaborations with influential designers.

Its enduring appeal is rooted in a unique aesthetic that often harmonised the clean lines characteristic of Nordic minimalism with whimsical, fairytale-inspired elements, thereby introducing a playful yet sophisticated dimension to Danish design.

Nymølle was formally established in 1946. The factory was strategically located north of Copenhagen, specifically in Lyngby, Denmark. However, it is important to note that before World War II, the company operated under the name Fuurstrøm.

The company was not an entirely new venture in 1946, but rather a continuation or re-establishment of an existing ceramic factory under a new brand identity in the immediate post-war era.

Bjørn Wiinblad (1918–2006) commenced his collaboration with Nymølle in 1946, a partnership that would extend for over three decades. By the 1950s, Wiinblad's influence was so profound that almost all of Nymølle's product lines were designed by him. He quickly became recognised as the most distinguished designer associated with the company.

Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997), a prominent Swedish ceramic designer best known for his work with Rörstrand, also contributed to Nymolle's collection. As did Arne Bang (1901-1983), a sculptor and artist, alongside his brother Jacob Bang.
