En 1923, James Powell and Sons , que posteriormente se convertiría en Whitefriars Glass Limited , abrió una fábrica en Tudor Road, Wealdstone, Harrow. Se trasladó allí desde el concurrido y contaminado rincón de la City de Londres, donde había estado establecida desde 1680.
El emplazamiento original de los Frailes Blancos se encontraba cerca del río Támesis. Esto permitía transportar fácilmente arena, arcilla, carbón y otros materiales utilizados en el proceso de fabricación del vidrio a la fábrica. Este práctico lugar había sido anteriormente un monasterio de los Padres Carmelitas (fundado en 1241), cuyos hábitos blancos les valieron el apodo de «Frailes Blancos».
En 1962, la empresa cambió su nombre a Whitefriars Glass Limited. Al año siguiente, se introdujo el logotipo moderno y reconocible de un fraile estilizado, que evocaba la ubicación original de la cristalería en la City de Londres. En octubre de 1980, tras 300 años de fabricación de vidrio y tan solo 57 años en Wealdstone, la fábrica de vidrio Whitefriars cerró definitivamente sus puertas.

Orders are dispatched within Australia Post via Standard Post. If you require Express Post, please make contact and a quote can be provided.
For most items shipped via Standard Post, shipping is capped at $20 for under 5kg and $30 for greater than 5kg. Shipping for larger items like lamps will vary between $50-$60. Extra larger items such as wall sculptures will vary again.
