One of Japan's most recognised manufacturers of mid-century glass is Iwatsu Glass (full name Iwatsu Glass Co Ltd), a company who produced an outstanding amount of art glass, based in Osaka, Japan.
The company was prolific in the 1960s and 1970s with a fantastic range of vases, centrepieces and art pieces, found in a variety of styles.
Those bound for the export market can predominantly be found with the Hineri Glass branding, while those found domestically in Japan are mostly seen with the Art Glass branding. Almost always both will have the Iwatsu logo, and sometimes have a label reading 'Made in Japan, 手作り' (translation: handmade).
Some pieces were distributed under the Kamei Glass or Nanbu Glass branding, showcasing their label rather than the Iwatsu Glass label.
