Alsterbro Glasbruk was founded in 1871 in the town of Alsterbro, Sweden, by Johan Björkman and Johan August Carlsson. In 1880 the company was bought by Reinhold Viktor Scheutz, who, post his death, left the glass manufacturing mill to his sons Abdon, Linus and Carl Wilhelm.

In 1903, Alsterbro was sold to De Svenska Kristallglasbruken who saw the company though the downturn of the 1920s/30s. The Lindshammar Glasbruk group bought the company in the 1960s and Gunnar Ander oversaw the design of a number of pieces at both manufacturers.
