Michael Andersen & Sons were founded in 1890 by Jens Michael Andersen (1859-1931) out of an existing pottery that had been founded in 1773 in the town of Rønne, on the island of Bornholm, Denmark.

German-born Marianne Starck (1938–2007) was one of Denmark’s leading ceramic designers in the 20th century, who is well known for her time with the ”Michael Andersen & Son” factory.
