The roots of Iittala date back to 1881 when a glass factory was established in a village of the same name in southern Finland. In its early years Iittala produced blown, pressed, polished, painted and etched glass according to continental models.

In the beginning of the 20th century dinnerware was decorated with a variety of ornaments. Iittala was one of the first companies to make the transition from decorative dinner sets to functional, aesthetically pleasing objects infused with progressive Scandinavian design.

Pattern: Achillea
Model: Vases

Designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape
Produced in 1963

Dimensions: 14cm tall x 16cm diameter (grey); 17cm tall x 12cm (amethyst)

Condition: Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition. The only flaw to mention is a manufacturing flaw in the glass on the rim of the amethyst vase, which we have tried to capture in the photograph. This is a not a chip.

Both are etched with LJP on the base and still have their plastic label intact.

The vases were sold as a pair and meant to be used either separately, or together one in one, as per our pictures.

Incredible pieces of Scandinavian history; one for the collectors!
