A fantastic piece of vintage Mexican folk pottery, by Carlos Villanueva. Based on our research, this piece dates back to the 1970s.

This ceramic beauty is in excellent vintage condition with no wear that we can see. It measures approx 21.5cm (8.5") tall and 15cm wide.

 

Carlos Villanueva studied under masters Jorge Wilmot, Jose Bernabe and Ken Edwards. He also worked with Ken Edwards as administrator in his workshop in Tonala, Mexico. By 1978 he was becoming well known around Mexico for his techniques and he won the National Ceramic Prize of Mexico that year for being the best artisan.
