Bitossi (Italy) 12" Table Lamp Base | Australian-Only Decor, Circa 1960s
In 1921 Guido Bitossi founded the "Maioliche artistiche Guido Bitossi" factory, proposing a type of production linked to the tradition and classical styles of the past, combined with research and a study on the ceramics products.
Starting from the early 1950s, the company’s evolution powerfully manifested itself in a modern vein under the artistic direction of Aldo Londi, a man with an innate creative and aesthetic sense, and a keen eye to the changes in the taste and the uniqueness of the Italian products.
Londi entered Bitossi in 1946 and from that time on was the undisputed protagonist for more than fifty years, first as a painter, then as artistic director, and finally as tireless researcher of styles and examples to be emulated.

A fabulous ceramic table lamp base in an Australian-only decor, circa 1960s. This design was produced for the Australian market and imported via one of the Australian importers (Transco or Erica).
It's in great to excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks, but does have a couple of small glaze flakes on one side of the design - which you can barely see. We have provided close up pictures.
This beauty measures approx 31cm tall, not including the light fixture, and 12cm diameter. It is wired to fit Australian standard electrical requirements and is in working order.
A fabulous addition to any Bitossi collectors space!
