Fritz Thomas founded Porzellanfabrik Thomas & Ens in Marktredwitz, Germany in 1903. His business partner at the time, Ens, was primarily an investor and left the day-to-day running of the business with Thomas.
In 1908 Rosenthal became a major shareholder in the company and Porzellanfabrik Thomas was born, operating as an independent subsidiary of Rosenthal. The company is still in operation today.
