Ellis Ceramics was an Australian pottery set up in 1953 by a Czechoslovakian couple, Dasa and Milda Kratochvil, in the backyard of their home in Abbotsford, Melbourne.
Their work is mainly slip-cast earthenware although they did experiment at one stage with stoneware and also made a small variety of wheel-thrown bowls and plates.
Many pieces are hand decorated or carved, some by art students. This makes each piece individual even when produced from the same mold.

A fabulous ceramic table lamp in a fabulous decor - bright lime green on the bottom half of the lamp base, and a 'fat lava' style mottled brown and white finish towards the top half of the base. Such a fantastic combination; it really has that wow factor!
This retro gem has been paired with a hand-made lamp shade made out of vintage fabric, courtesy of our friends at Retrotastik.
The lamp base is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or any other flaws to mention. Please note the lamp shade may have some inconsistencies in the pattern and fabric itself being vintage, however it is free from damage.

This beauty measures a whopping 91cm (36") tall (!!!) including the shade, 40cm tall not including the shade or light fixture.
