Ellis Ceramics was an Australian pottery set up in 1953 by a Czechoslovakian couple, Dasa and Milda Kratochvil, in the backyard of their home in Abbotsford, Melbourne.

Their work is mainly slip-cast earthenware although they did experiment at one stage with stoneware and also made a small variety of wheel-thrown bowls and plates.

Many pieces are hand decorated or carved, some by art students. This makes each piece individual even when produced from the same mould.

THIS LISTING

A fabulous ceramic table lamp in an olive green colour way, circa 1960s.

It has been paired with a hand-made lamp shade made out of vintage fabric, courtesy of our friends at Retro Duo.

The lamp base is in excellent vintage condition with no wear that we can see. Please note the lamp shade may have some inconsistencies in the pattern and fabric itself being vintage, however it is free from damage.

This beauty measures approx 56cm (22") tall including the shade.

It has been professionally rewired with a new cable to meet Australian electrical standards. Essentially, it's all ready to go!
