Manufactured at the company's Luxembourg factory, the line remained in production until the end of 1984. The pattern was designed by Christiane Reuter, the same chief designer responsible for Villeroy & Boch’s highly successful Acapulco range.

The Cadiz pattern draws direct visual inspiration from traditional Spanish and Portuguese azulejo tiles. The design features a repeating, stylised motif of a quince and blue filigree pattern, set against a crisp white background. This graphic, two-tone decoration was applied exclusively to the 'Milano' tableware shapes, originally modelled by Ludwig Scherer.

Like many of the company’s post-war patterns, Cadiz was manufactured using their proprietary vitro-porcelain. This high-fired ceramic body was made for the modernising domestic market, providing a durable, chip-resistant finish.
